The Mannheim Center for Data Science (MCDS) and the European University ENGAGE.EU jointly offer again a lecture series on the topic of “Data Science in Action” in fall semester 2023. Lectures will be held in English online via zoom every Thursday from 12 to 1.30 pm.

Highlighting the diverse application areas of data science and providing exciting insights into related research - that is the goal of the lecture series initiated and continued this year by Heiner Stuckenschmidt, Chair of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Mannheim and Managing Director of the Mannheim Center for Data Science. Eleven renowned scientists have agreed to give a 45-minute lecture and discuss it with the participants afterwards.

The lecture series is both interdisciplinary and international. The lecturers conduct research not only at the University of Mannheim, but also at other outstanding universities in Germany and abroad that are part of ENGAGE.EU. The talks will take participants into a wide variety of application areas of data science, ranging from "Forensic Data Science" (Evelina Gavrilova-Zoutman, NHH Norwegian School of Economivs, Norway) to "Researching Research" (Mikael Laakso, Hanken School of Economics, Finland) and "Data Science for Health Innovation and Entrepreneurship" (Elisabeth Huis in t' Veld, Tilburg University, The Netherlands), to name just a few examples.

All interested parties are welcome to attend.
