My educational and professional choices have always been motivated by the desire to learn and understand the world’s business dynamics. With this in mind, I chose to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Economics at the University of Passau (Germany) and a Master’s degree in Accounting and Taxation at the University of Mannheim (Germany), both taught entirely in English and with an international perspective. During my studies, I gained my first practical experience by completing several internships in the private sector (Decathlon and Falk & Co.), where I learned how to assess the financial and strategic positions of a company, prepare financial statements and tax declarations and carry out forecast analysis and corporate planning. My most influential practical experience was as a student research assistant at the Chairs of Corporate Taxation at the University of Mannheim, where I became fascinated by how taxes can significantly influence corporate and individual decisions, and by the relevance of fiscal policy in stimulating the economy. Therefore, I enrolled in the PhD program in Economics (Taxation Track: 2020-2024) at the Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences of the University of Mannheim. Thanks to a comprehensive two-year course program, I acquired a solid econometric background coupled with deep institutional knowledge, at the intersection of business, economics, and law. My research stays at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Iowa (both USA) allowed me to gain important insights into the American tax system and to extend my institutional knowledge beyond the European tax landscape. My research has mainly focused on how tax policies affect the behavior of firms and individuals, combining state-of-the-art empirical methodology with in-depth analysis of the legal framework. I am particularly interested in exploring the intersection of tax accounting and behavioral economics, by examining firms' responses to environmental taxes and regulations.
